How to share notes and attachments
Share your notes together with the images, PDFs, and other documents your collaborators need. Use a shared folder so they can access everything through one link, either in a browser or in their own Obsidian vault.
Before you start
Install and enable the Peerdraft Obsidian plugin, and sign in to the account you use to create shares. If you need to set this up, follow Getting Started with the Peerdraft Obsidian Plugin.
Put your notes and files together
- Create or choose a folder in your Obsidian vault for the material you want to share.
- Put your Markdown notes, Canvas files, and supporting files inside it. Include any images or documents linked from the notes so your collaborators receive those too.
Share the folder and include attachments
If the folder is already shared, go straight to its folder options in step 2.
Right-click the folder in Obsidian’s file explorer and choose Peerdraft > Share Folder.
Right-click the shared folder and choose Peerdraft > Show folder options.
Under File Extensions, keep the existing extensions and add the types of supporting files you need. Separate extensions with commas, without leading dots. For Markdown, Canvas, PNG images, PDFs, and Word documents, use:
md, canvas, png, pdf, docxClick Update Extensions.
Review the files listed in the confirmation dialog, then click Confirm Changes.
Markdown and Canvas files are included by default. Add any other file types you want to share to the extension list.
Give collaborators access
Right-click the shared folder, choose Peerdraft > Copy URL, and send the link to your collaborators.
Open the files in a browser
Open the link and select a file from the sidebar:
- Open a Markdown note to read or edit it, including its embedded images.
- Select an image or PDF to view it in the browser.
- For a document such as a Word file, choose Download and open it in your usual application.
Send collaborators How to collaborate in your browser for help editing notes, leaving comments, and navigating the shared material.
Add the folder to an Obsidian vault
If your collaborator wants the files in Obsidian, have them enable the Peerdraft plugin and then:
- Open the command palette and choose Peerdraft: Join session and add document from someone else.
- Paste the folder’s share URL and confirm.
- Open the imported folder in their vault to use the notes, Canvas files, and attachments.
Add more files later
Move or create another file inside the shared folder. If its extension is already included in File Extensions, Peerdraft shares it automatically and collaborators receive it in their connected vaults.
For a different file type, add its extension through Peerdraft > Show folder options, click Update Extensions, and confirm the files to include.
